Deputy Prime Minister & Minister of Foreign Affairs, Republic of Albania
Mr Edmond Haxhinasto was born in Tirana on the 16th November 1966. Mr Haxhinasto graduated from the University of Tirana, Faculty of History and Philology, English Chair in 1989 with a Diploma in English. His post-graduate education includes a Master’s degree in Business Administration from the International Executive Centre, Brdo, Slovenia. In 2000, he completed a Master’s degree in Public Policy from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, Princeton University, New Jersey. After a brief engagement in educational and national youth organizations, Mr Haxhinasto worked one year as Head of Foreign Relations at the Parliament of the Republic of Albania.
Mr Haxhinasto served two years at the Office of the Prime Minister as Head of Coordination Department. He was also Government Representative for the Emergency Management Group, set up to manage the situation of Kosovo refugees in Albania. Between 2002 and 2003, he worked as Chief of Cabinet at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Since 16 September 2010 he has held the post of Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania, and from 17 January 2011 Mr Haxhinasto holds the position of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Albania.
