GLOBSEC Young Leaders´ Forum 2016
GLOBSEC Young Leaders´ Forum 2016 is a unique gathering of young leaders and the next generation of decision-makers. On 14 – 17 April 2016, Bratislava will become the centre of the young transatlantic leadership. Discussing the future of NATO before the Warsaw Summit with regard to a number of current security threats and tackling a number of challenges concerning European projects as well as insecurity in the Middle East regions are the most urgent issues. As top leaders, presidents, ministers, EU and NATO officials gather at the annual GLOBSEC 2016 Bratislava Global Security Forum, young leaders will engage in discussions and jointly contribute and influence foreign and security policies.
GLOBSEC Young Leaders’ Forum gives participants an opportunity not only to improve their policy making and negotiating skills, but also to engage in constructive discussions with senior policy makers. GYLF is also a platform for establishing new contacts and over the past years it has established a strong GLOBSEC Young Leaders´ Forum network.
GLOBSEC Young Leaders´ Forum is organised in parallel with the main GLOBSEC 2016 Bratislava Global Security Forum, allowing future decision-makers to participate in the core debates. The Forum offers several kinds of sessions. The most prominent one is the off-the-record debate, an in-depth, hard-hitting moderated discussion with respected personalities in a closed intimate setting. Apart from off-the-record debates, during the last day participants also join the main Forum by participating in the conference's main sessions; GLOBSEC City Talks, Pub Quiz, sightseeing and cultural events. Over the years, GYLF’s guest list has included: General John Allen, Senator John McCain, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, Alexander Vershbow, Ivan Krastev, Heather Grabbe and others.
Policy working groups conduct evaluations of current topics via pre-conference discussions with the aim to present strategic policy proposals and action plans for the main GLOBSEC Forum panels. When meeting some of the main panel discussants, GYLF participants are given feedback on their previous questions and comments. The Forum provides space for active participation also by attending the main session at the main GLOBSEC forum, for which they have been preparing their input during the long-term engagement within the policy working groups.
All GLOBSEC Young Leaders´ Forum sessions and formats provide strong incentives for young professionals to engage in fruitful discussions, to network with world´s top leaders and to improve their diplomatic skills.
