Aleksander Aksenenok

Mr Aleksandr Aksenenok is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation and member of RIAC. He graduated from prestigious MGIMO University in Moscow and also holds a Ph.D. in Law. Mr Aksenenok has served in the diplomatic service since 1963 and his fluency in Arabic, English and French enabled him to work in embassies of the USSR in Libya, Egypt, Iraq, Yemen and Syria. From 1988 to 1990 he was Main Advisor, Deputy Chief and Head of the Directorate for Planning Foreign Policy Measures at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR. After that period he took several positions in the diplomatic service of the Russian Federation among others Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Slovakia in 1998-2002. Mr. Aksenenok is currently Managing Director of Vnesheconombank and a member of the Expert Council of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs. He is also a member of Valdai Club and the NGO Council for foreign and defence policy. Mr Aksenenok contributes with his articles to journal Russia in Global Affairs published in participation with Foreign Affairs.
