Mayor of Bratislava
Mayor of Bratislava, Mr Ivo Nesrovnal acquired his education at a number of universities around the world. He studied law at the George Washington University in Washington D.C., at L’Université Robert-Schuman de Strasbourg in France, as well as at renowned European universities in Hamburg, Budapest and Bratislava, where he also did his post-graduate degree at the Institute of State and Law of the Slovak Academy of Sciences between 1987 and 1990. He began his professional career in Prague, in the president Vaclav Havel´s office, as an attorney specializing in human rights. Between the years 1992 and 2005 Mr Nesrovnal lived and worked in Stuttgart, Germany, as an attorney at the international office of Gleiss Lutz Rechtsanwälte, becoming a partner in 1998. His expertise included privatizations, international transactions, take-overs, M&A, European law, anti-trust, banking, corporate, real-estate, green field projects and copyrights. In 2009 he moved his career towards politics, becoming the Vice-Chairman of the Bratislava Self-Governing Region, serving until 2013. Mr Nesrovnal was elected a member of the Bratislava City Parliament in 2010, standing as the Chairman of the Financial Council until 2014, when he was elected the Mayor of the City of Bratislava.
