Simon is Director for the Security Lab and for HP Labs Bristol which is HP’s European research centre, our second largest worldwide. Established in the field of computer security our teams collaborate with university and industrial researchers globally to create next generation technologies that are vital for our online world.
HP’s research interests range from the Internet of Things, to 3D transformation, Immersive Computing, Hyper- Mobility and Smart Machines. Security and privacy are already top concerns for businesses and consumers and will only increase as with further technology and usage model innovation. As a result, a major challenge for HP Labs Bristol is to create technology that ensures safe and assured digital experiences.
Simon joined HP Labs in 1996 and has led a number of research teams and published several academic and professional articles on a wide range of topics spanning trusted infrastructure, cloud computing, audit, governance, and the economics of information security. Simon has always had a strong external presence working directly with customers, partners and academia. Simon is a full member of the IISP, holds a PhD in computer science from Durham University and BSc in mathematics from Sheffield University.
