From 1998 to 2002, he served as the 3rd Secretary at the Delegation of the Czech Republic to NATO in Brussels. In 2002, he became the Head of the Unit for NATO relations with Russia, Ukraine and other partner countries at the Security Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Prague (2002-2003). From 2003 to 2006 he held the position of the First Secretary at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Moscow. He was the Deputy Director of the Security Policy Department (2006-2007) and later the Director of the Department of Northern and Eastern Europe at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic (2008-2009). He also served at the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Washington D.C. as the Deputy Chief of Mission (August 2009 – May 2010, June 2011 to October 2011) and Chargé d’Affaires a.i from June 2010 to May 2011. He held the position of the Director of the Security Policy Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Czech Republic from October 2011 to June 2012 and later served as the Director General of the Section of Non-European Countries until 2013. In April 2013, he started to work at the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic as the First Deputy Minister of Defence and later held the position of State Secretary (February-December 2014). From January to June 2015, he was appointed the Deputy Minister - Head of the Defence Policy and Strategy Division at the Ministry of Defence of the Czech Republic. Since June 2015 he is Deputy Minister – Head of the Armamentand Acquisition Division.
