Event description:

Amid the ongoing COVID-19 crisis, a new German government took office in December 2021. Chancellor Olaf Scholz now leads the first coalition of Social Democrats, Greens, and Liberals with ambitious priorities on climate, digitalization, and social areas. Their coalition agreement also includes points suggesting significant changes to Germany’s foreign policy. EU policy, for example, will have a strong focus on the rule of law and solidarity. At this event, we will discuss the impact that such a policy course will have on Germany’s strategic partnership with Central and Eastern Europe (CEE) in the EU context. In particular, what will the priorities of the new German government be regarding its relationship with Poland, Czechia, and Slovakia?
