This year’s EUISS Annual Conference, titled ‘EU Strategy Matters’, is a high-level opportunity to convene policy planners and think-tankers from across Europe to discuss EU foreign policy. The conference will address the extent and comprehensiveness of EU common foreign and defence policy, strategic considerations, and Eastern and Southern dimensions of EU foreign policy.
HR/VP Federica Mogherini will deliver the final keynote address. The conference will feature participation of EEAS officials, EU Parliament Members, representatives of national governments as well as a range of prominent thinkers.
Tomáš Valášek, CEPI’s Honorable Chairman and Slovakia’s ambassador to NATO, will moderate the panel ‘The ‘D’ in Common Security and Defense Policy’. CEPI will also be represented by Milan Nič, its Managing Director.
The European Union Institute for Security Studies (EUISS) is the Union’s agency dealing with the analysis of foreign, security and defence policy issues. The Institute was set up in January 2002 as an autonomous agency under the Common Foreign and Security Policy (CFSP) to foster a common security culture for the EU, support the elaboration and projection of its foreign policy, and enrich the strategic debate inside and outside Europe. The Institute’s core mission is to provide analyses and fora for discussion that can be of use and relevance to the formulation of EU policy. In carrying out that mission, it also acts as an interface between European experts and decision-makers at all levels.
