The Central European Policy Institute (CEPI) will host a closed-door GLOBSEC DEBATE with the Foreign Minister of Romania Dr Bogdan Aurescu. We will focus on the Ukraine crisis, NATO and EU response, V4 and Romania, energy security and Moldova. The discussion will be held in English and off the record.
Dr Bogdan Aurescu is a career diplomat who joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1996. Between 2003 and 2004, he was Under-Secretary of State within the Ministry – Government Agent for the European Court of Human Rights, and between 2004 and 2005 Secretary of State for European Affairs. Between 2004 and 2009, he was the Romanian agent before the International Court of Justice in the case against Ukraine on Maritime Delimitation in the Black Sea. He was also head of the Romanian delegation for the negotiations on the Romanian-American Ballistic-Missile Defense Agreement and of the Joint Declaration on the Strategic Partnership for the 21st Century between Romania and the USA. Between 2009 and 2014, he held the position of State Secretary within the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs on 24 November 2014.
