The conference “Supporting Economic Reforms in Ukraine by Transferring V4 Experience” took place on 10-11 December, 2015 in Budapest. The speakers and participants predominantly from the V4 countries and Ukraine have discussed how Central European countries could support the economic development of Ukraine by initiating and contributing to projects that are actively supporting the reforms. The first plenary day of the conference consisting of four panels focused on the concerned economic reforms from a more general perspective introducing current problems Ukraine has been facing, the most relevant economic reform programs of Central Europe, as well as potential best practices based on previous support of the Visegrad countries in Ukraine and also in other regions.
The second day the participating experts shared their national experience and best practices through four thematic workshops on sectoral level basis. The four half-day workshops (2-2 running in parallel) discussed how the sectoral developments of the V4 were implemented, the role of the national governments in boosting these reforms, the key legislative processes to attract investors and capital to the development of these sectors. The workshops discussed the present state of the industries, namely energy, agriculture, car industry and IT, in Ukraine, the potential of their development and the means of involving experience and support of V4 countries into the development activities of Ukraine.
