The Globsec Policy Institute, in cooperation with the Ministry of Finance of the Slovak Republic, organizes a public debate Tatra Summit Chat: Europe at a Crossroad: What Happens Next with the EU Economic Governance? The debate will take place on 9 September 2016 (Friday) at 15:00 in Hotel Devín in Bratislava at the margins of the informal ECOFIN meeting and will discuss some of the crucial issues that are related to the current EU Economic governance.
Over the last years there has been an intensive debate about the consequences of the Eurozone sovereign debt crisis for its member states as well as for the non-Euro members. Coordination of national economic and fiscal policies has proven ineffective in protecting the European Union from the crisis of recent years. How much appetite is there left in order to overcome current disappointments? Can we achieve a prosperous and growing EU economy while keeping all member states in high spirits? These are some of the questions that we are going to address this Friday.
Speakers:
Hon. Anders Borg, Former Minister of Finance of the Kingdom of Sweden
Hon. Vazil Hudák, Former Minister of Economy of the Slovak Republic
Hon. Mario Monti, Former Prime Minister of the Italian Republic
Hon. Jacek Rostowski, Former Minister of Finance of the Republic of Poland
The debate will be moderated by Jakub Wiśniewski, Director, Globsec Policy Institute
