GLOBSEC will host Pew Research and Körber representatives to discuss and analyze their recent polling in the United States and Germany on the state of their bilateral relations and the trans-Atlantic partnership. In 2020, for the third consecutive year, Pew Research Center and Körber-Stiftung jointly surveyed Americans and Germans. They are finding a pattern of increasing estrangement between the longstanding allies.

As the Trump administration advances plans to withdraw troops from U.S. military bases in Germany, we’ll examine how U.S. and German public opinion is changing and what current trends could herald for Europe’s future. In addition, we will discuss how the trans-Atlantic partnership is seen through the Central and Eastern European lenses.

Speakers:

  • Alena Kudzko, Director, GLOBSEC Policy Institute
  • Jacob Poushter, Associate Director of Global Attitudes Research, Pew Research Center
  • Joshua Webb, Editor, The Berlin Pulse, Körber-Stiftung

Moderator: Kinga Brudzińska, head of Future of Europe Programme, GLOBSEC Policy Institute

This event will be hosted within the framework of GLOBSEC Megatrends brainstorming. The publication will include future trends and policy solutions for the post-COVID-19 era. The intelligence for the report is currently being crowdsourced from the top minds in the fields of economy, security and international relations, and it will also include voices from the wider public.
