23.09.2020 - Virtual Central and Eastern European Think Tank Summit

14.09.2020

Tuesday, September 23, 2020 from 2:30 - 4:45 pm CEST // 8:30 - 10:45 am EST

The virtual summit will bring together high-level representatives from Central and Eastern European think tanks. The discussion will aim to explore and elaborate on the impact of COVID-19 crisis on the region and the international cooperation during and after the crisis.

Think tanks play a critical role in analysing, developing, and promoting policy solutions, particularly in times of disruption, change and crisis. The COVID-19 pandemic has highlighted the importance of broader multilateral cooperation between states, as well as the importance to minimalize the impact of the pandemic in the upcoming future. The impact of the pandemic has been most widely seen in social, economic, and political areas. The panel of representatives will therefore discuss the predictions of the short-term and long-term impact of COVID-19 in the region and lessons learnt from the crisis. The summit will also aim to address the current state of international cooperation and come up with policy recommendations on how to strengthen it. Lastly, relevant recommendations and action plan to save lives and livelihoods in Central and Eastern Europe will be discussed with the aim to address how the region can become more resilient towards crises.

Virtual Central and Eastern European Think Tank Summit is organized together with the Think Tanks and Civil Societies Program at the Lauder Institute, University of Pennsylvania.
