Chief Financial Officer

Job description, responsibilities and duties

GLOBSEC is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will be responsible for overseeing the organisation’s financial strategy, planning, and management to ensure long-term sustainability and growth. Reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will provide strategic financial guidance, support key business decisions, and ensure compliance with local and international financial regulations in Slovakia and Czechia.

The role includes budgeting, forecasting, risk management, and optimising financial performance while maintaining operational efficiency. The CFO will also manage investor relations, funding opportunities, and financial reporting to key stakeholders.

Additionally, the role involves leading the finance team, implementing best practices, and driving continuous improvements in financial processes and systems.

Financial Planning and Risk Management

  • Lead the organisation’s financial planning and reporting processes.
  • Budgeting of the organisation, including variance analysis.
  • Analyse liabilities and investments to identify and manage potential financial risks.
  • Develop investment strategies that consider cash flow and liquidity risks.
  • Personnel costs processing and reporting in cooperation with HR.
     

Financial Oversight

  • Complex financial management of several international branches and entities of the company
  • Oversee and evaluate the organisation’s fundraising plans and capital structure.
  • Ensure cash flow is sufficient to support operational requirements.
  • Prepare accurate and reliable financial reports, including forecasts and value-for-money analysis.
  • Oversight of project finances and events finances.
     

Process Optimisation and IT Systems

  • Manage the automation and streamlining of finance department processes.
     

Compliance and Governance

  • Ensure all financial operations comply with legal requirements and organisational policies.
  • Active communication with banks, Authorities, vendors, partners and other relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure adequate intercompany structure and international transaction flow from tax, financial and compliance perspectives.
  • Set up management accounting and redistribute sources among governed entities.
  • Oversight of legal department.
     

People Management

  • Leading and inspiring team consisting of accountants, lawyers, finance managers and coordinators, and finance assistants.
  • Fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.

Requirements for the employee

  • Fluent Slovak or Czech and a professional English speaker.

  • Proven experience as CFO or relevant role.

  • In-depth knowledge of corporate financial law and risk management practices.

  • Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.

  • Proficient in the use of MS Office and financial management software.

  • Ability to strategise and solve problems.

  • Strong leadership and organisational skills.

  • Excellent communication and people skills.
