Communications & Marketing Director of GLOBSEC
Job description, responsibilities and duties
GLOBSEC is looking for a senior professional experienced in communication, especially in the area of foreign and security policy, economic policies, strategic planning, team leadership, and crisis management.
The Communications & Marketing Director will lead the development and implementation of comprehensive communication strategies, plans and communication and marketing campaigns that enhance GLOBSEC's visibility, influence, and engagement with key stakeholders.
In order to reach GLOBSEC’s communication objectives, he/she will lead and motivate a medium-sized team of communication professionals. This role is pivotal in articulating the organization's mission, goals, flagship events and policy work to diverse audiences.
If this position is the right fit for you, your responsibilities will include:
Strategic & Crisis Communication
- Creates and executes long- as well as short-term communication plans that align with GLOBSEC's strategic objectives.
- Identifies relevant communication opportunities.
- Develops messaging that communicates GLOBSEC’s policy work, projects and advocacy goals and flagship events - GLOBSEC Forum and Tatra Summit.
- Develops and manages targeted communication and marketing campaigns related to the organization as well as specific projects and activities.
- If necessary, initiates and oversees the realization of crisis communication.
Media Engagement
- Builds and maintains relationships with the media in Brussels, key European capitals, USA, as well as with key international/global media outlets.
- Manages effective distribution of press releases, op-eds, and other communications to raise the profile of the organization.
Digital Communication and Content Creation
- Manages GLOBSEC's online presence, including social media channels and website content.
- Oversees the production of high-quality content, including reports, blog posts, newsletters, and social media posts.
Visual Identity
- Develops and oversees the overall visual identity of the organization in accordance with its design manual.
- Oversees the visual identity and standards of respective projects and activities of the organization.
Team Leadership & Coordination
- Manages the work of the communication team and navigates the whole organization among multiple communication priorities.
- Collaborates with other teams within the organization to develop communication strategies for GLOBSEC’s main initiatives and projects.
- Reports on the effectiveness of communication campaigns while using data-driven insights.
- Manages the work of the external providers.

Personality requirements and skills
We are looking for a candidate who meets the following criteria:
- Fluent Slovak or Czech and English speaker (native or near native level).
- Proven experience in developing successful communication strategies and campaigns.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multinational teams.
- Experience with digital communication tools and social media management.
- Familiarity with issues related to foreign policy, security and defence. geopolitics, economics, Geotech
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to drive long-term vision and navigate complex challenges.
- Understanding of budget management, financial forecasting, and resource allocation to maximize cost-efficiency.
- High level of adaptability and resilience in a dynamic environment, with an orientation toward continuous improvement.
