BRATISLAVA – 25/10/2016
From 27 to 30 October 2016, Bratislava will become a hot spot of political and economic elites who meet at GLOBSEC Tatra Summit 2016 to discuss and bring solutions to the most pressing European challenges. Beside the productive meetings and discussions, GLOBSEC will present the first results of its original GLOBSEC Intelligence Reform Initiative which brings policy recommendations on intelligence reform to efficiently prevent terrorism.
GLOBSEC Tatra Summit 2016 is a unique event which gathers together high-profile politicians, EU officials, scholars, experts and business leaders to shape the further direction of Europe. This prominent international conference celebrates its fifth anniversary; however, this year is marked with several special highlights.
Above all, the conference takes place amidst the first ever Slovak Presidency in the Council of the European Union. Therefore, GLOBSEC Tatra Summit represents the next stage in a reflection process launched by EU leaders at the Bratislava Summit, which should later lead to a reformed, more flexible Union.
Then, the European Union has never faced so many challenges and unpredictable circumstances as today. As the President of GLOBSEC Róbert Vass says, “it is our common responsibility to make sure that our future does not get any darker.” Hence, the conference features discussions dedicated to the current problems, such as the future of the EU integration also in light of Brexit, threat of terrorism in Europe, migration, rise of extremism and financial criminality. For that, the most competent guests will join their diverse expertise to come up with solutions, which might make a difference in Slovakia, in the region as well as in Europe. Among our speakers are Finance Minister of Germany Wolfgang Schäuble, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Budget Kristalina Georgieva, economist Arthur Laffer, President of Google Europe Matt Brittin and many other distinguished guests.
A part of the conference is also the GLOBSEC Tatra Summit Investment Forum which connects top business leaders and visionaries to create more investment opportunities and boost the EU welfare. The whole event will culminate at the GLOBSEC European Award ceremony, which will be bestowed on Mr Schäuble due to his contribution to integrated Europe. GLOBSEC offers also its original solutions, starting with GLOBSEC Intelligence Reform Initiative preventing terrorism, which will be officially introduced at the conference.
GLOBSEC is an independent, non-governmental and non-partisan organisation whose mission is to connect key experts on foreign and security policy from all over the world while shaping the global debate. Apart from organising one of the top security conferences in the world, GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum, it also established GLOBSEC TATRA Summit, a forum designed to deal with European affairs. GLOBSEC also associates the think-tank GLOBSEC Policy Institute and the GLOBSEC Academy Centre educational platform designed for young experts and leaders.
