The jubilee 10th edition of GLOBSEC is successfully over and there is a lot to be proud of.

This year‘s list of participants contains the most prominent names in its history, including 6 presidents, 6 prime ministers and 2 keynote speeches by the UK Prime Minister David Cameron and Slovak President Andrej Kiska. The event once again broke several of its own records.

More than 1,000 participants from 70 countries attended the discussions at Kempinski Hotel River Park. The number of speakers who came to present their views to the professional and political audience and general public in Slovakia exceeded 150 and was highest in the event’s history. Media interest was also very strongly present – the GLOBSEC Media Centre hosted more than 200 media representatives from 35 countries, including world known media such as Euronews, Associated Press, Reuters, Xinhua, BBC or New York Times.

GLOBSEC also introduced a number of innovative projects that again raised the bar from the previous year slightly higher. Great examples are a series of public debates, GLOBSEC City Talks, in three Slovak cities – Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice, the GLOBSEC Daily newspaper and a unique television studio for the Slovak Radio and TV and Euronews, where live interviews were conducted. This exclusive venue with a view of the Danube hosted prominent guests such as President of Croatia Kolinda Grabar Kitarović or President of Georgia Giorgi Margvelashvili.

GLOBSEC is also known thanks to impressive activity on social networks. During three conference days, the official hashtag #GLOBSEC2015 appeared3 in more than 5,000 tweets. The GLOBSEC profile on Twitter was visited by 4,900 people and a total number of primary impressions during the weekend exceeded 120,000. GLOBSEC also gained 250 new friends on Facebook and the profile was visited more than 45,000 times.

All this would not be possible without you – our guests, friends and partners. “We are closing a chapter, the decade of Central Europe’s phenomenal journey towards freedom but also a phenomenal journey of one project – GLOBSEC. In the beginning, it was only a dream of four students, which has now become one of the most prominent global conferences on foreign policy and security. We would like to thank everyone who has supported us during this decade. Since it is not only an achievement of my team, but also of all our partners such as the Slovak Ministry of Foreign Affairs, supporters who were with us from the beginning, such as BAE Systems, but also of those who are with us today – SAAB, VRM, Microsoft, International Visegrad Fund, BMW, Kempinski Hotel and others. Without their support we would not be able to organise such a world class event,“ said the founder of GLOBSEC Forum and Executive Vice-President of Central European Strategy Council Róbert Vass.
