GLOBSEC TATRA Summit 2016 to Take Place amidst the Slovak EU Presidency

Negotiating a new relation between the EU and the United Kingdom, tailoring an efficient strategy to deal with the migration influx and reforming the EU economy in the wake of the sovereign debt and monetary crises are all going to be the hottest European challenges during the forthcoming Slovak Presidency in the EU Council. GLOBSEC TATRA Summit 2016, an international conference on European affairs organised by GLOBSEC on 27 – 30 October in Bratislava, will be in the centre of these debates.
Since 2013, GLOBSEC Tatra Summit has been connecting top politicians, thinkers and business stakeholders to discuss and solve the most pressing issues of the European Union and its economy. Its 2016 edition will be of special importance, as it coincides with the first-ever Slovak Presidency of the Council of the European Union. GLOBSEC Tatra Summit 2016 is scheduled to take place on 27 – 30 October in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The 2016 edition of the conference will welcome ministers of finance from several European countries – German Minister of Finance Wolfgang Schäuble, Italian Minister of Economy and Finances Pier Carlo Padoan and Slovenian Minister of Finance Dušan Mramor have already confirmed their participation. They will be joined by Pierre Moscovici, European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation and Customs and many other distinguished guests.
Apart from existing and very present problems such as migration and the issue of possible Brexit, GLOBSEC Tatra Summit will only a week ahead of the US elections discuss the future of Euro-Atlantic relations under the next US President, as well as the relations between EU member states and the EU institutions. Debates will also focus on the future of European liberal democracy, further integration process, energy security or the fight against financing terrorism.
GLOBSEC Tatra Summit 2016 will once again feature the Investment Forum which is to concentrate on investment opportunities and strategies in Europe.

2016 also marks the first year that GLOBSEC Tatra Summit will be officially organised by the GLOBSEC organisation and under its new official name GLOBSEC Tatra Summit. Earlier this year, the entire network of organisations behind the GLOBSEC Forum underwent a reorganisation and rebranding, and became known as GLOBSEC. More detailed information on the Summit’s programme and speakers will be announced soon.
