Bratislava, 22 October 2020

Ambassador Rastislav Káčer yesterday handed over his credentials to the President of the Czech Republic, Miloš Zeman, and started his mission as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Czech Republic. As a result, he will dissolve his position as Chairman of GLOBSEC in connection with his new appointment.

"I would like to warmly congratulate my friend and colleague Rasťo Káčer on his new position and wish him every success in this important mission. At the same time, on behalf of the entire GLOBSEC team, I would like to thank him for his irreplaceable personal and professional dedication and his tremendous contribution to the organisation. His experience and insight were key in many moments of the organisation's development. We will miss him in Bratislava, but Rasťo is going to Prague at a critical time when Europe and the world are facing unprecedented challenges triggered by the global pandemic. Cooperation between Slovakia and the Czech Republic will be extremely important for further development, not only in Central Europe, and his role will thus be critical", said Róbert Vass, President of GLOBSEC.

"After discussion with Ivan Korčok, the Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic, I decided to return to the diplomatic service as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Slovak Republic to the Czech Republic. In this context, while I am quitting as Chairman of GLOBSEC to fully address this new professional challenge, GLOBSEC, its people and the values it represents, will be forever close to my heart, and I will continue to support the organisation from my new position as ambassador to the Czech Republic", Rastislav Káčer said.

Rastislav Káčer previously served as Slovak Ambassador to Washington and later to Budapest. In 2008 he became part of the management team of the Slovak Atlantic Commission and later GLOBSEC.
