Slovak Atlantic Commission (SAC), in cooperation with the Center for Euro-Atlantic Studies-Serbia (CEAS) hosted on April 11 – 17, 2016 the winners of the essay contest entitled the “Partnership for Serbia” in Bratislava, Slovakia. Five Serbian university students – authors of winning essays have participated in the study visit to the state institutions and NGOs in Slovakia. They had official meetings at the National Council of the Slovak Republic, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Institute of Defence and Security Studies, International Visegrad Fund, Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in the Slovak Republic as well as with representatives of the Central European Policy Institute, foreign and security advisor to the President of the Slovak Republic and Slovakia’s Ambassador at large for migration. At the end of the study trip had the Serbian guests an opportunity to attend GLOBSEC 2016 – Bratislava Global Security Forum (April 15 – 17, 2016).

During the study trip, Serbian students became familiar with the Slovak experience of integrating in the European Union and NATO. They have also discussed the Serbian foreign policy aspirations, Slovak-Serbian relations and the current security issues facing Europe with respected experts from Slovak ministries, Parliament, think-tanks and Serbian, as well as Slovak Embassies. Participants had a chance to discuss the key topics of GLOBSEC 2016 and to interact with other young participants interested in security issues as well as with key stakeholders and experts.

The winners’ trip is organized within the SAC project “Visegrad for the South-East Europe: Towards a Successful Integration“, implemented in Serbia and Montenegro. The activity was organized under the auspices of the Slovak Embassy in Belgrade, which currently serves as the NATO Contact Point Embassy in Serbia 2013 – 16. The project is implemented with the support of the International Visegrad Fund.
