Anton Rop

Former Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia

Anton Rop is the former Prime Minister of the Republic of Slovenia (2000-2004). He is anHonorary Vice President of the European Investment Bank (EIB) where he served as Vice President from 2014 until 2017. He was in charge of financing operations in Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Croatia, Western Balkans, Ukraine, Russia and Belarus, the JASPERS programme, ex-post evaluation of operations and information technology. Previously, he served as Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs (1996-2000) and Minister of Finance (2000-2002). He headed the preparations of  Slovenia's Programme for joining the ERM II and adoption of the euro. He also served two terms as a Member of Parliament.  Mr Rop holds a master's degree in economics.
