Aims | Parallel to the GLOBSEC Bratislava Global Security Forum 2013, the GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum was organised by the Slovak Atlantic Commission. The aim of the GLOBSEC YLF was to give emerging influencers and future decision-makers the opportunity to contribute new ideas to the debate on security, foreign policy and economy, improve their policy-making skills and engage in networking with their peers and senior policy-makers. Aged 25 to 35, the young delegates came from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds and included elected officials, legislative staffers, academics, and military personnel. This year’s main theme of the GLOBSEC Young Leaders Forum was ‘Transitions’ – be it transitions from authoritarian regimes in North African countries, integration and democratisation processes in the Balkans, or the on-going fragility of new democracies.

Results | For 3 days, 38 Atlanticists from over 20 countries practiced their leadership skills due to dynamic set of programming and active participation of the young leaders. There were sessions on the topics of Transition in Arab countries, night owl sessions about the development in Asian countries, about Iran, Eastern Partnership and about European Defence. The young Atlanticists participated also at GLOBSEC conference.
