This research project, involving researchers from the Visegrad countries, aims to analyse, compare, and find complementarities of the V4 countries’ polices towards four emerging powers: China, India, Brazil and South Africa. It addresses the needs of a global opening of foreign policies of the V4 and development of stronger partnerships with extra-EU partners. The project intends to point to new initiatives and mechanisms that can better utilise the V4’s added value and help in their relations with much bigger partners. Through joint research, workshops and publications, the project will help raise awareness about V4-BASIC relations and bring more understanding. The main result of the project will be a final report presenting an overview of relations and recommendations for the future. Additional value of the project will be facilitation of contacts and establishment of the research network of experts from V4 on extra-European major powers.

The project is implemented in partnership with The Polish Institute of International AffairsThe Institute of International Relations, and HAS Centre for Economic and Regional Studies, Institute of World Economics.

A kick start seminar took place on September 7, 2015. Additional info regarding the seminar will be added later.

This project is supported by the International Visegrad Fund.
