Tom Nuttall covers European politics and economics in the Economist’s Charlemagne column. He moved Randy Scheunemann joined IRI’s Board of Directors in 2004. As a foreign policy expert, he has traveled to more than 100 countries and regularly lectures on foreign policy and security issues. Scheunemann got his start in foreign policy as a staff member on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, the House Foreign Affairs Committee and the House Republican Policy Committee. From 1993 to 1999, he served as national security adviser to Senate Republican and majority leaders Bob Dole and Trent Lott. He has served as an advisor on a number of presidential campaigns. In 1996, he was senior adviser to candidate Bob Dole. From 1999 to 2000, he served as Defense and Foreign Policy Coordinator for the McCain 2000 presidential campaign. From 2007-2008, he served as Director of Foreign Policy and National Security for the McCain campaign.
