H.E. Steven Vandeput currently serves as the Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Belgium in charge of Civil Service while he is a member of Parliament as well.

Steven Vandeput started his career at Military Service in medical Service in 1993. In the same year, he was appointed as the Independent contractor. He held the position of Managing director of the construction firm “Engineering Interieur en Bouwprojecten”. Later served as training manager of Trenisto (organisation for training, coaching, and consultancy).

Since 2010 until 2014 he was a member of Parliament and during that time served as the member of the commission Finance and Budget and the commission Infrastructure, Traffic and Public Enterprises as well.

Since 2008 until 2010 Vandeput was named Chairman of the Nieuw – Vlaamse Alliante Limburg.  He also worked as Member of the Bureau and Member of the Council of the Nieuw -Vlaamse Alliante Party. Since 2013 became the Leader of the members of the Nieuw -Vlaamse Alliante at the City Council of Hasselt.

Regarding Steven Vandeput’s social commitment, he was appointed as a Chairman of the “Katholiek Vlaams Hoogstudenten Verbond” from 1988 to 1989. In 1998 headed the Junior Chamber International Hasselt. Since 2004 until 2005 led the Junior Chamber International Vlaaanderen. In the year 2006 was appointed President of the Junior Chamber International Belgium. In 2007 worked as Vice President of the Junior Chamber International and up until now is a member of several associations.

Mr. Vandeput is a graduate of the Economische Hogeschool Limburg and obtained a master’s degree in “Commercial and Financial Sciences, option management of small and medium-sized enterprises”.

He is married to Saskia Mussels and has two children Kaat and Kobe.
