Zdravko Marić is Minister of Finance of the Republic of Croatia since 2016.
He acquired his first professional experiences in the scientific and academic field. As one of the best students, he was employed by the Institute of Economics, Zagreb, where he participated in numerous scientific and commercial projects. At the invitation of the then Minister of Finance, in 2006 he became an Assistant Minister for Macroeconomic Analysis and Planning with main responsibility for preparation of macroeconomic forecast and work on the budget.
He was also engaged in direct cooperation with the European Commission in the field of economic dialogue. In 2008, he was promoted to the position of State Secretary. Thus, his responsibilities were expanded, so, along with the aforementioned ones, his portfolio included the entire state budget, financial system and cooperation with international financial institutions (IMF/WB, IADB, EBRD, EIB, CEB). In addition, he became a head of the working group for Chapter 33 – Financial and Budgetary Provisions (the last closed chapter in the process of negotiations with the European Union).
Furthermore, he was a member of several working groups, of which the most important were those on Economic and Monetary Policies, Taxation, Financial Systems, and Free Movement of Capital.
From 2012, he held the position of the Executive Director for Strategy and Capital Markets in Agrokor d.d.
