More than 50 countries or territories have decided to postpone elections in response to the Covid-19 pandemic. However, the cases of democratic primaries in Wisconsin or the ongoing preparation for the presidential election in Poland show some public authorities are willing to take the risk. While the scientists keep warning that the virus might stay with us for many months to come, will the pandemic threaten the process of regular elections? Why did certain countries decide to hold the elections and how does it affect the public discourse, democratic processes and election integrity overall?

Join us for a discussion on securing fair elections with experts from both sides of the Atlantic:

  • Zofia Lutkiewicz, Vice-President, Political Accountability Foundation, Poland
  • Corina Rebegea, Head of Democratic Resilience Programme, CEPA, US
  • Beata Martin-Rozumilowicz, Director for Europe and Eurasia, International Foundation for Electoral Systems

Moderated by Katarína Klingová, Senior Research Fellow, Strategic Communication Programme, GLOBSEC

In case you cannot join us, the webinar will be live-streamed and available for you to watch later on GLOBSEC social media accounts
