What is the objective?
Less than two weeks before the European Parliaments elections, we will debate how external (the return of geopolitics) and internal (the European Parliament election) factors will influence the EU’s relations with its neighbours. Will the EU’ unity will be strengthened after the elections, thus allowing the EU to play a significant role in its neighbourhood? or rather due to overwhelming support for the anti-European parties, the EU will be divided from inside, hence not being able to speak with one voice? Are we witnessing multispeed cooperation in the EU foreign policy? What is the role of Central and Eastern European countries in the EU foreign policy initiatives? CEE region has benefitted from EU activity in areas such as relations with Russia, cooperation with the Balkan countries, and the Eastern Partnership. At the same time, CEE countries have offered little in the way of support for the EU’s efforts in other fronts, ex. its southern flank. Will this approach change?
This city talk forms a part of a bigger 2 years long international project implemented by GLOSBEC called DIFF GOV: European Governance: Potential of Differentiated Cooperation. DIFF GOV is possible thanks to supporting of the European Commission Jean Monnet Activities of the EU Programme Erasmus+
