28.11.2016

28 November, 2016 - 09:00 to 29 November, 2016 - 14:30

Falkensteiner Hotel, Bratislava, Slovakia

The expert workshop “Countering Information War – Lessons Learned from NATO and Partner Countries” in Bratislava is the second expert worshop organized within the project “Countering Information War – Lessons Learned from NATO and Partner Countries”. The project is implemented by the GLOBSEC Policy Institute in cooperation with the Information Centre for NATO and EU and the NATO Liaison Office in Tbilisi from June 2016 to May 2017 with the financial support of the “NATO Science for Peace and Security” programme. The expert workshop in Bratislava brings together up to 60 high-level speakers and other experts from NATO member and partner countries. The activities of the project have taken place both in Slovakia and Georgia.

The project responds to the need of improving NATO’s understandings and defensive capabilities towards the issues of the information war and by providing a powerful network-building and analytical tool, i.e. dozens of speakers and experts will repeatedly meet and establish working connections. Especially experts from Slovakia, Czech Republic, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Montenegro will be involved.

The overall goal of the project is to collect and systematize knowledge which has been gained by NATO member and partner countries during the recent employments of information warfare. This effort will result in the development of a set of policy recommendations for decision-makers in NATO member and partner countries, as well as the NATO staff in Brussels. The analysis and conclusions will also contribute to the work conducted by the allies in the NATO CoE Strategic Communication in Riga, Latvia and support its reach-out and inter-connectedness with a non-governmental sector in NATO member and partner countries.
