GLOBSEC’s 2023 Bratislava Forum is the preeminent international strategic conference on the frontlines of a newly divided world. The Forum has established itself as the most distinguished platform throughout the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region, and this 18th edition will remind the world that the CEE region has never been more crucial to ensuring global stability.

GLOBAL FRAGILITY: AN UNCERTAIN FUTURE

Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is an assault on the fundamental underpinnings of global democracy and security. As the war continues to manifest and cause severe harm, the global community remains severely divided. Concurrently, democratic nations face a groundswell of challenges that require immediate action. Soaring inflation, the rising cost of living, unprecedented energy disruptions, and economic and food crisis
are just some of the developing consequences. Furthermore, pockets of conflict and humanitarian crises are spreading worldwide, alongside devastating climate crises increasing in frequency. Moreover, massive health challenges gripping society require introspection and immediate evidence-based solutions. Europe, after a period of unprecedented solidarity, is at risk of splintering and collapsing from the weight of both internal and external problems. Consequently, along with democratic leaders, Europe must govern with vision and perseverance, demonstrate resilience, as well as uphold unity.

Against the backdrop of these challenges, senior-level stakeholders from various fields will converge in Bratislava to generate breakthrough ideas and solutions on how to overcome the litany of challenges that are defining the changing global order. Therefore, the discussions at the upcoming GLOBSEC Bratislava Forum will be guided by three overarching themes:

  • Continuing Support for Ukraine
  • Resilience of Europe in the Face of War
  • Mitigating the Global Consequences of the Conflict (economic, energy, value chains) – in a Global Dialogue

In concert with our main sessions, the Forum will organise a roster of diverse thematic side events and exclusive brainstorming sessions. It will seek solutions and encourage firm action in the most urgent crises and plan longterm strategies for the future.

Hundreds of the most influential political representatives, business champions, leading global think tanks, NGO experts, heads of international organizations, thinkers, and innovators gather every year at the Forum to actively shape the future we want for us and future generations. Over the years, GLOBSEC’s guests of honour have included Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Ursula von der Leyen, Pope Francis, Emmanuel Macron, Zuzana Čaputová, Karl Nehammer, Olaf Scholz, Arturs Krišjānis Kariņš, Jens Stoltenberg, Harjit Sajjan, Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, Kersti Kaljulaid, Madeleine Albright, Margrethe Vestager, Donald Tusk, Joseph Nye, Timothy Garton Ash, Paul Collier, Francis Fukuyama, Brad Smith, and countless other influential stakeholders. On top of that, the Bratislava Forum regularly enjoys ample international media coverage from key outlets such as BBC, Euronews, AP, Financial Times, AFP, Euractiv, and Politico, among others. Journalists from more than 30 countries and the live broadcasting of the discussions around the world ensure that the outcomes of the Forum consistently reach a global audience.
