GLOBSEC co-organizes NATO Public Forum 2024 in cooperation with the White House and NATO
Washington D.C., July 10, 2024 – GLOBSEC, as the only European think-tank, co-organizes the NATO Public Forum, which takes place alongside the historic NATO Summit. This unique conference begins today, July 10, in Washington, D.C., and is a significant side event of the member and partner states of the Alliance Leaders Summit. GLOBSEC participates in the preparation of the NATO Public Forum together with the White House, the US government, NATO and other American think tanks such as the Atlantic Council, the Center for a New American Security, the German Marshall Fund and the Hudson Institute.
Significance and participants of NATO Public Forum 2024
The NATO Public Forum has become a traditional part of the NATO Summit, providing a platform where leaders can present their views on key questions about the future of the Alliance. This year, in the context of the current geopolitical and security situation, the event is more important than ever. It will be attended by important figures and leaders from the fields of politics, security and business, including high representatives of NATO member states, as well as specialists and experts in artificial intelligence and new technologies.
"We are honored that NATO and the White House chose us as the only European co-organizer of the event. GLOBSEC brings several important representatives and panel discussions on a variety of interesting topics to the NATO Public Forum. On the very first day, we bring an interview of high-ranking European leaders - Czech President Petr Pavel, Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, and Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas, together with American Senator James Risch in a discussion about the future of transatlantic relations" states Róbert Vass, President and Founder of GLOBSEC.
Representatives of GLOBSEC, led by President Róbert Vass, will also speak at the conference. Acting Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, US Defense Minister Lloyd Austin, and US Minister of Foreign Affairs Antony Blinken will speak at the beginning of the conference.
Key topics and objectives of the event
The event will focus on current global challenges, including support for Ukraine, increasing the Alliance's military capabilities, and defense investments. The impact of artificial intelligence and new technologies on security and geopolitics, as well as the importance of the Alliance cooperation with the European Union and the Indo-Pacific region, will also be discussed. Considering the 75th anniversary of the NATO foundation and the 20th or 25th membership anniversary of several Central European countries in the Alliance, including Slovakia, the event will be an important opportunity for reflection and planning of the Alliance's future.
