Monday, 27 March 2023. Bratislava, Slovakia; Washington, D.C., the United States of America - GLOBSEC, a leading international think-tank, has announced the launch of its new office in Washington, D.C. The expansion will further strengthen the organisation's presence in the United States and enhance transatlantic cooperation on key security and defence issues.

The launch of the office is accompanied by a high-level kick-off conference focusing on the main strategic challenges posed by Russia's invasion of Ukraine. Based in Bratislava, Slovakia, but with offices in Brussels, Belgium, and Kyiv, the organising body of this event is GLOBSEC's U.S. Foundation, established in 2022 to further GLOBSEC's mission across the Atlantic.

Founded in 2005, GLOBSEC has emerged as a prominent voice in global security and defence policy. The organisation's mission is to contribute to developing effective solutions to global security challenges through research, analysis, and dialogue. GLOBSEC's work has focused on a wide range of issues, including cybersecurity, energy security, and the prevention of radicalisation and extremism.  The board of the Foundation consists of experts, such as Petr Pudil, Sally Painter, Steve Clemons and Michael Chertoff, who have collaborated with GLOBSEC for an extensive period.

"The launch of our new office in Washington, D.C. is a major milestone for GLOBSEC, and I am delighted to work with Petr, Sally, Steve, and Michael to make our presence in the U.S. a continued GLOBSEC success," said Róbert Vass, Founder and President of GLOBSEC. "We are excited to be expanding our mission to the United States and look forward to working with our partners in Washington and beyond to enhance our shared interests in furthering CEE’s presence in the West."

The launch of the new office in Washington, D.C. comes in very turbulent times. Naturally, the conference's main topic is Russia's war in Ukraine. For it, GLOBSEC is bringing together the ministers of defence of Latvia and Estonia, military and strategy experts such as John Allen and many other policy-makers, academics, and leaders to unveil what is ahead of Ukraine and its allies in the coming year and beyond.
