Martin Smatana and Michal Štofko joining GLOBSEC as the new Associate Fellows covering Healthcare

GLOBSEC, a leading European independent think-tank with global outreach, is happy to welcome on board two new Associate Fellows Martin Smatana a Michal Štofko, both with extensive knowledge and experience in topics related to healthcare.

We are delighted to welcome both Martin Smatana and Michal Štofko as the new Associate Fellows to our newly established Economic Growth and Sustainability Programme, which will cover also area of healthcare. We are excited to begin this collaboration and look forward to their valuable contributions” commented Alena Kudzko, Director of the GLOBSEC Policy Institute.

 Martin Smatana was previously a Director of the Institute of Health Policy. In addition, he was a member of the Supervisory Board of the biggest insurance company in Slovakia and Chairman of the Categorization Commission at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. Martin also cooperates with the Association for the Protection of Patients’ Rights and is an advisor to the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family. Martin is an author of several publications and is a member of the European Commission’s social protection committee.

Michal Štofko worked as the Director of Strategy at the Institute of Health Policy. He was the Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Faculty Hospital in Nové Zámky and the Vice-chairman of the Categorization Commission of Specialized Medical Material at the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic. He currently lectures at the Health Management Academy, collaborates with several health associations and is an advisor at the Ministry of Labor, Social Affairs and Family.
