Romania and GLOBSEC Sign Memorandum to Boost Strategic Cooperation

Bratislava, October 14, 2024 – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania and GLOBSEC have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to strengthen strategic cooperation in security, innovation, and other areas. This agreement, formalized last Friday on October 11 in Bucharest, marks a major step in further amplifying Central and Eastern European voices on the global stage.

The Memorandum emphasizes a shared commitment to key issues, including enhancing Romania’s role within the European Union, NATO, and partnerships with global allies. The cooperation will also focus on driving innovation and economic growth in the region, with opportunities for Romanian government representatives to engage in GLOBSEC’s global platforms and events.

Luminița Odobescu, Romania's Minister of Foreign Affairs: "With the signature of this Memorandum of Understanding with GLOBSEC, a well-recognized top Policy Centre, we are embarking on a more structured cooperation aiming to bolster our joint action in support of Central and Eastern Europe interests, values and prosperity. Joint endeavours on various topics of interest, ranging from the Black Sea region to security, economics and innovation will feature prominently during the implementation phase."

Valid for three years, the Memorandum provides a framework for further initiatives and policy engagement, reinforcing GLOBSEC’s role as a leading global think tank committed to security, prosperity, and sustainability across Europe and beyond.
