GLOBSEC Healthcare Readiness Index 2023
The newly released GLOBSEC Healthcare Readiness Index (HRI) 2023 reveals a worrying situation for Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). Nine of the ten lowest-ranking countries are from the CEE region, with Bulgaria, Poland, and Latvia scoring the worst. The report highlights significant gaps in healthcare funding, infrastructure, and preparedness, raising serious concerns about the future of healthcare for millions of people in the region.
The GLOBSEC HRI assesses countries' ability to meet current healthcare needs (Readiness Today) and their preparedness for future challenges (Readiness Tomorrow). It evaluates factors such as healthcare financing, availability of medical staff, diagnostic infrastructure, and health outcomes. It also considers future healthcare demands, including the prevalence of diseases, risk factors, and the implementation of preventive measures.
All data for the Index were gathered from publicly available sources, including Eurostat, OECD, the European Commission, and WHO.
