Aleksey Pushkov

Aleksey K. Pushkov was born on August 10, 1954. He graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations and obtained a PhD degree in “History of International Relations”.  In between 1988-1991 he served as Foreign Policy Adviser and Speech-writer to General Secretary Michael Gorbachev in the International department of the Central Committee. He became the Deputy Director-General in the Russian TV Channel 1 in 1995. Since April 1998 he became author, anchor and executive producer of the «Postscriptum» weekly show on TV Center. From 2004 to 2016, he served as a Member of the Presidential Council on Human Rights and Civil Society in Moscow. From 2008 to 2011, he was a Director of the Institute of Contemporary International Problems at the Diplomatic Academy of the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation. Since 2011 until 2016 he served as a Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs of the State Duma. He is the author of 6 books and more than 500 articles on foreign policy.
