Ján Cingel
Former Head of European Neighbourhood Programme, GLOBSEC Policy Institute
Ján Cingel is a research fellow at the European Neighborhood Programme. Before transferring to the GLOBSEC Policy Institute, he worked as a project manager of the European Neighbourhood Development Programme at GLOBSEC (previously the Slovak Atlantic Commission) for five years. His area of expertise is the Western Balkans, South Caucasus, NATO, and EU integration related issues and processes. He has run projects in Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Kosovo, Georgia, and Armenia. Before joining the Slovak Atlantic Commission, Ján worked at the Bilateral relations office of the Defence Policy, International Relations and Legislation Department of the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic in 2008 - 2010. He is one of the co-founders of the Bratislava Global Security Forum - GLOBSEC. Ján graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences and International Relations of the Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica, Slovakia with a MA degree in International Relations and diplomacy. Since 2011 he pursues PhD studies at the same faculty externally with his research focusing on Russia’s influence in its neighborhood especially in the South Caucasus countries.
