Oscar Sanz-Paris

Oscar has over 24 years of investment and capital markets experience, with a particular focus on structured credit, derivatives and emerging markets. An engineer by education, Oscar has always focused on the technical aspects of risk management, devising innovative investment and hedging strategies. After his banking years, Oscar embarked in an entrepreneurial phase, founding companies in energy, infrastructure and Fintech.

After a couple of years as a research engineer in the industry, Oscar spent 15 years in investment banking in London, starting at JPMorgan as a quant, moving on to Credit Suisse and UBS where was the Managing Director heading Structured Credit for EMEA. In addition, from March 08, he also supervised the Commodities derivative book, hedging exotic pay-offs, as well as Trading Algorithmic Strategies.

Following his banking years, since 2010 Oscar became an active investor, taking an executive role (primarily of CFO) in those entities he was a stakeholder, having direct involvement in the overall direction and business strategies, including Pentech (EPC firm in Latam), 4UT (Khazak MVNO), TriStarEnergy (Russian IPP), TCQ Power (IPP and Grid management company in Sierra Leone). In 2016, Oscar co-founded Castille Capital, an Asset Manager, to continue his investment and advisory activities in emerging and frontier markets.

Oscar currently resides in Washington DC, where in addition to his ongoing investments in Castille Capital, he is a Fellow and US ambassador for Globsec,  board member of United Capital, a US venture capital investor focused on Africa.

Oscar holds a masters (MSc) in Mechanical Engineering from Universite de Technologie de Compiegne (France) and MSc in Industrial Engineering from Universidad de Zaragoza (Spain). Oscar has also earned an ACMA/CGMA Diploma in management accounting and is currently completing Oxford Said’s Fintech programme and Data Science professional certificate at Harvard University.
