Vladimir Dlouhy studied mathematical economics and econometrics at School of Economics and at Charles University in Prague, later MBA at Catholic University in Leuven (Belgium).
In 1989, he was invited to join the first post-communist government and till 1992, served as Minister of Economy of Czechoslovakia. After the split of the country, till June 1997, he served as Minister of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic.
Since 1997, he has been member of International Advisory Board of Goldman Sachs, covering Central and Eastern Europe. In 2014 he was elected President of the Czech Chamber of Commerce. In January 2015 he became Chairman of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), in February 2018 Co-Chairman of the Future of Europe Committee in the Eurochambres.
Vladimir Dlouhy holds the following positions as well: Chairman of the Advisory Board, Meridiam Infrastructure, France, Associate Professor of Macroeconomics and Economic Policy at Charles University in Prague.
He also served as Non-executive director, KSK Power Ventur, India, Advisor to ABB for Central and Eastern Europe, chairman of European Group of Trilateral Commission, member of European Advisory Group to Managing Director of IMF.
In 2012, he was running for the President of the Czech Republic.
