David Koranyi joins GLOBSEC as Strategic Advisor
GLOBSEC is pleased to announce that David Koranyi has joined the organisation as Strategic Advisor to accelerate GLOBSEC's mission and expand its footprint among international think tanks.
“It is my sincere pleasure to welcome David to GLOBSEC. In these transformative times of the global pandemic, we need people with a clear vision, innovative ideas and a strong network of connections,” said Robert Vass, President of GLOBSEC. “David will be our first core collaborator based in New York. This will give us a strong footprint and presence in the United States. As a Hungarian national, David is a Central European by heart with impressive international experience and global connections and outreach. His strategic eye and breadth of experience as an advisor in multiple areas of policymaking will help expand GLOBSEC’s international impact and will contribute to our global agenda on foreign policy, alliances, energy and strategic issues now and well into the future.”
Commenting on his appointment, Koranyi said: "I am honoured to have joined the GLOBSEC family at this critical juncture in history. GLOBSEC is the place to be to influence the trajectory of Central Europe recommitting to the principles of multilateralism, freedom, peace, united Europe, and robust transatlantic relationships."
“I am excited to support GLOBSEC in carrying out its ambitious vision towards 2022. I hope to bring my perspectives on how we leverage our progressive cities as lighthouses to safeguard and strengthen our democracies, and how to build more sustainable and resilient energy economies," he added.
Koranyi has a long record of working with global partners and generating solutions to address common challenges in policymaking. He previously led the Atlantic Council’s Energy Diplomacy Initiative (2016-2018) and its Eurasian Energy Futures Initiative (2014-2016) and served as the Deputy Director of its Eurasia Centre (2012-2014). During his seven years of the European Parliament service, he headed up the office of a Hungarian Member of the European Parliament and served as the Chief Foreign Policy Advisor.
Prior to his international career, he provided his insights and advice as to the undersecretary of state and chief foreign policy and national security advisor to Gordon Bajnai, former Prime Minister of Hungary. Besides taking on his duties with GLOBSEC, David Koranyi will continue to serve as senior advisor on city diplomacy to the Mayor of Budapest, as a policy advisor on sustainable energy and energy geopolitics at the United Nations and as a non-resident fellow for energy diplomacy at the Atlantic Council.
