International think tank GLOBSEC has announced that it is to delay the 2020 edition of the GLOBSEC Bratislava Forum due to the global outbreak of COVID-19.

The new dates for the event are 28 – 30 August 2020

A statement by GLOBSEC said: “The wellbeing, health and safety of our partners and staff is our top priority. Given the evolving situation, the best course of action is to postpone the Forum to the end of August,”

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly. However, we believe these new dates will give speakers and delegates sufficient time to adjust their busy schedules to new dates and we will have a pleasure to open the new diplomatic season together."

“We are grateful to our partners for their support and constructive input during these challenging times. We can assure the international community that we have been working hard towards our objectives to make this year’s edition of the Forum even better while adhering to strict safety measures."

The Forum’s agenda will be focused on the most pressing issues of these unprecedented times, with delegates and speakers working hard towards finding feasible solutions to challenges we’re facing now and in the future. The discussions will focus on the impact of the COVID-19 crisis on multiple sectors of societies and governance and will be framed by five topical streams: Future of Europe, Defence and Security, Economy and Global Order, Digital Future and Sustainability.

We will continue monitoring the overall development of the situation closely and will be prepared to take further decisions if needed so that we do not compromise on the safety of our guests. Details about the GLOBSEC 2020 Bratislava Forum’s programme will be communicated in due course.
