GLOBSEC Putting Georgia on European Way through Study Trip to Slovakia

This week, GLOBSEC is delighted to host a group of Georgian entrepreneurs eager to pick up knowledge and advice from Slovakia’s small and medium enterprises. The group, which consists of farmers, food producers and local administrators, will learn how the Slovak agro-sector has coped with the country’s accession to the European Union. Regional development issues will also be on the agenda, with a particular focus on Slovakia’s rural and mountainous regions.

In addition to meetings with government departments, trade bodies and other organisations, delegates will visit enterprises throughout Slovakia, including bakeries, farms and vineyards. The site visits, in turn, reflect Georgia’s own rich history in these sectors, and Tbilisi’s determination increase exports of honey, wine, dried fruits and other products to EU states. To this end, the visit is also about further strengthening business and economic ties between Georgia and Slovakia, as well as the EU.

Delegates will visit our premises on Tuesday 13 November for further discussions with members of the GLOBSEC Policy Institute. The trip has been arranged as part of GLOBSEC’s commitment to the Georgia on European Way initiative, which, among other issues, seeks to build up the country’s small and medium enterprises. The main donor for the visit is Slovak Aid.
